Mayor Joni Stewart called the second public hearing regarding a Community Development Block Grant to order at 6:37 PM.

The following persons were present at the hearing:

Leanne Kavanagh – PO Box 847 – Cut Bank Pioneer Press
Randy Edmission – 333 6th Avenue SE
Lisa Edmission – 333 6th Avenue SE
Glenn Roush – State Senator
Jason Abbott – Police Chief
Thomas Shock – CIty Councilperson
J. W. Eaton – CIty Councilperson
Bill McCauley – CIty Councilperson
Joni Stewart – Mayor
Diana L.Filban – Clerk Treasurer
Jim Suta – City Superintendent

Mayor Stewart noted that the Community Development Block Grant Funds are available for projects such as housing and neighborhood renewal, planning grants for long-term community projects and for public facilities projects. Currently, the City of Cut Bank is seeking funding improvements to the water distribution system.

Lisa and Randy Edmission asked questions about the availability of water from Cut Bank Creek and specific information regarding the plan for water line improvements throughout the City. The Edmissions were given hand outs from the first public hearing held March 3, 2008. Randy Edmission noted concerns about the availability of water for irrigation purposes as their new home has a large lawn. The Council said that when water restrictions are put on, they apply to the entire city. In the past, there have been exceptions with prior approval from the City Superintendent for any resident who recently planted sod. Mr. Edmission asked where the water leakage is going. City Superintendent Suta noted the water goes back into the ground and some eventually ends up back in the Creek downstream from the water plant.

Mayor Stewart called for any further questions and/or comments from the public. There was no further public participation.

There being no further business to come before the public hearing, Tom Shock moved to close the hearing. The second motion was made J. W. Eaton. The motion passed 3-0 and the hearing closed at 7:03 PM.
